Live From SugarHill is characteristically different from other shows of its kind. Instead of using the studio as a backdrop or manipulating the audio to sound ‘as good as the record’, LFSH invites you into its legendary Studio A along with the artists to sit in on the session and experience their live performance. This ‘within the scenes’ context is what sets us apart from other shows that have originated in a studio environment.

Each show is performed, mixed and broadcast live while being filmed in high definition by our co-conspirators Zenfilm. The studio is configured just the way it would be normally--the setup of the soundstage and control room are our real world environment. You’ll see mic stands, cables, lighting equipment all as is. Instead of trying to create a theatrical effect, our approach is a documentary style that reveals each performance in its nascent state: a direct connection between what is happening in the studio and you. This lack of pretense creates an electric authenticity to the performances, presents the band in a live, organic environment and offers a unique opportunity to interact with bands in an intimate recording setting. The artists who populate the space become vibrant, alive and show a love for their work and deep familial connection to the people who work at SugarHill every day.
